Real change can be traumatic. Change will always be work. Anyone who has ever oared a river raft has had a crash course in this thing called change. The peaceful river can put one to sleep, but in a couple of heart beats the river’s course can drop in altitude doubling your speed and momentum and straight ahead the rocks and the sweeper log. We face a decision point in this nation’s political history as a democracy. We are talking about changes that could right the course or sink the future for one or two generations. Put in more graphic terms, at stake is the peaceful prosperity of our children and grandchildren. We have only a few months to pull hard on the oars or the rocks and the sweepers of history will snap this nation into pieces turning the future into a soggy scavenger hunt. This prospect is why I persist on this project. Good is mental health. Good is religious freedom, ethics and morality. Good is thoughtful public policy. Good is the foundation of true service. What am I missing here?
