Good, War, and the new Escalating Stalemate

As we pass through year one of the middle east conflict I have to wonder if perhaps we have a third party in these tragic wars of our new young century. That third party would be an arms industry that needs to clear its inventory. Who could have imagined the Ukraine/Russia conflict would grind on this long with no resolution and that October 7 would become another anniversary date of ever expanding hostilities. And these two wars the only the beginning inventory of the globe’s shooting gallery.

The concept of peace becomes more radical with each passing day. Whatever the solution, there seems to be no Gandhi, Mandela, or Tutu out there to light a candle in the newly darkened room of peaceful coexistence. I am pretty sure arms producing nations cannot continue to mainline their destructive devices into the hands of allies who themselves are trapped in the new 21st century version of war. I would call that version ‘the escalating stalemate’. This kind of conflict occurs when the human mind has shut down all but the most primitive functions of the brain and simply freezes in survival mode, even when survival means mutual destruction that leaves few survivors and no one unscathed.

I have found it interesting that this Project of The Good Decision has a small but steady set of international readers who come from, In addition to the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, China, Bulgaria, Romania, Viet Nam and more. Of course it all falls far short of an influencing website, but I am heartened by the fact that individuals from many different cultures would at least be searching. I really think in the reality of the individual, and the local community, the prospect peaceful innovations are becoming more urgent. This blue ball of a world is beautiful from the altitude of the space station and so very compelling at the level of individual and local community. But our cultures in relationship to one another have a frightening disease that is generating death and destruction. This is a “we” problem at the governance level that is seeking its cure from each of us as individuals and the communities in which we live. Lets free our militaries to help fight hurricane destruction and rising sea levels. At least in that crisis we can all be the human beings together we were meant to be.
