If politics are ever going to help America out of its current dilemma we have to change the political paradigm.  Current left and right wings are becoming calls for conflict and violence. Extremists on both wings are almost always authoritarian.  The true work of public service politics is far too difficult and tedious for the authoritarian personalities of any stripe.  An authoritarian tends to dismiss all opposition and back-fill the houses of legislation with their brand of the subordinate-of-the-day.  Radicalized left and right wing minds tend to abandon public service in deference to  their roughly constructed secular religions or a knock-offs of one of the mainstream religions minus the hard parts.  Once you become extreme, thinking becomes a simple maintenance project because you have surrendered your personal agency to a dogma.  Secular dogma, even secular dogma in religious clothing, is a set up for running the society off a cliff.

A Modest Proposal for Good

Political Parties need to become known again for legislative work and not for the personalities at the top.  The job of the legislative branch needs to be focused on legislative goals rather the than playing the passive, blushing, bride or groom auditioning from the bleachers. The renegade “Executive Order” absolutely must be hog tied and locked up in a shed until the legislators  can adopt modifying legislation to prevent the “orders” from becoming dictates. The Supreme Court has to acknowledge the President and the men and women in high administration are not above the law.  We must look again at the current versions of ‘Democrat’ and ‘Republican’.  The conversation between those two entities as they are is in the process of strangling itself.  Finally we need a credible website to house credible political information briefly describing what people are voting for along with the reliable feedback information of perfomance of past legislation.  This information source must be publicly funded, and protected from partisan influence with the same discipline as the nuclear code. In short, the entire American democratic mechanism must be recovered and rebalanced.   That would be good.
