Good and the Crude Dentistry of America’s Authoritarians

What happened last week in Venezuela upset the world order in ways our leadership cannot seem to imagine.  Our current heavy handed government impulsively removed a President from another nation like an abscessed tooth on the assumption the cavity of authority left in that nation would  heal over quickly and all will be well.  Authoritarian leaders across the planet will watch this example of illegal action and take it as permission if not an outright invitation to take out their own least favorite leader be it in Taiwan, Ukraine, or maybe a eastern European nation with wobbly economy or divided electorat. NATO hasn’t fallen yet, but we can see the possibility with our nation’s defection in the tenuous world order.  If we pack the cavity of Venezuela’s extraction with American corruption as promised last week, the inevitable deadly infection bodes poorly for Venezuela and her people. Only Venezuela can provide the antibody political solution for healing both the cavity and absent authority of their wounded country and culture. Any reasonable dentist could have seen that coming.

This nation’s authoritarian is out of his depth when he aspires to world domination.  Irreversible mistakes rarely announce themselves at first flush, but rather show their cards later when it is too late.  We are currently in the one lap victory lap of fools.

Modest Proposal For Good

The American electorate has to make  good decisions this year in the mid term elections.  We can spare the rest of this hemisphere the trauma of forcefully bringing  the US to its senses by electing forthright courageous  candidates to federal power.  We can help Venezuela fill its current power vacuum with its own legitimately elected leader, and support the the new start of its economy without exploiting their resources.  A new ally in South America would be of inestimable value to the United States.  The talk of assuming Greenland and invading Cuba is simply the outrageous doggerel of a rogue nation and leader.  We can only hope the true patriots in this country go to the polls with the clear message that enough is enough and elect a Congress that can bring sense to our new amateur authoritarian in the White House.  That would be good and maybe the only peaceful option left to a future American democracy.
