Good, Ai, and the Assault on Reality

Reality used to be a place one visited when one’s mind became too self-serving, toxic, tiring, or simply boring. Then one day an aggressive cancer composed of digital media inserted itself between us, our minds and the reality of the world in which we live.   With a layer of digital media between us and the direct encounter with the world, reality is distorted into a subservient jelly of deceptive images creating a gap between what is real and what other people want it to be.  Ai, for all its promise, is also becoming tool number one for the master thieves and dishonest politicians of the internet.  Reliable web pages are being precisely duplicated to fool people into siphoning real world money into fraudulent accounts.  Even the current government administration is reported to be using fraudulent images to alter perceptions of political and economic reality in service to their own private agendas.

Ai is ultimately amoral and subservient.  Certainly time will result in some kind of moral bannister being inserted into the universe of Ai, but if not or until then, the entire concept of Internet commerce is up for grabs.  Why?  Because fraud and the telling of lies have apparently been deemed a tolerable offense at the highest offices of government in this culture of ours. The true face of reality can no longer penetrate clearly through the subservient shape shifting jell of digital media.  Ai is the prince of masks and to encounter reality’s true face we must do the work of clearing the windshield.

A Modest Proposal for Good

Some critical decision points:

Do not tolerate lies. Do not tolerate Ai generated cheap, glitzy, satire humor distorting the faults of fellow humans.  Trust your “deep cruelty” sonar. Reality can be painful, but never cruel.  It only seems cruel when the lies are washed away by nature revealing hard truth rather than what other people think reality should be. Spend a balanced portion of your conscious time in nature without your media because nature has a time tested method of teaching that is direct, timely, abrupt, and true.  Nature also preserves and stores the lasting reality of true beauty for anyone who cares to leave the internet trance and participate in the organic and analogue. Live face to face with lovers, friends and even strangers for body to body quickly reveals  fraud and highlights the formative work of emotional courage. If you feel buried, bruised  and nearly paralyzed by the deceptions of digital media, wake up, and use your remaining energy to discover real life again, messy as it can be.  That would be good.
