Good, and Frozen at 248 Years of the Good Old USA

Whatever is coming out of Washington these days is clearly not the country our founders created 250 years ago.  In some ways the dream of the United States has been suspended for this writer and perhaps a majority of Americans who cannot figure out how you celebrate a tradition of democracy and freedom while both those concepts are currently being undermined by our own government these past one plus years. Maybe we should suspend the birthday celebration of the USA until we can clock a few more years working inside the aspirations of our founders.  With this present government, the celebration can be nothing but a tinny charade of a proud, lost tradition.

So when can we celebrate?  Maybe after we apologize to all the innocent victims of the illegal search, seizures, kidnapping and murders of the current immigration enforcement.  Maybe after this nation rejoins the democracies of this planet in shaping the revolutionary ethics and morality of freedom of expression. Perhaps after this nation apologizes at the UN for the breaking of international law.  If not the above, then  when our president speaks with the authority and credibility of a fully mature adult capable of self-discipline and adverse to every form to cruelty. Certainly when our economy recognizes structural injustice actually exists both in reliable statistics as well as in plain view to open eyes devoted to perception rather than denial. Finally we can celebrate when more than 1/3 of our nation actually believes there remains a basis for celebration and less than half is not in the mourning over loses uncountable.

Short Proposal for Good

Make everything in the second paragraph above true and celebrate when there is something to celebrate. That would be very good.
