Good and It’s the Economy and Yet, It Isn’t. Its Amnesia and more

A nation that can’t lift its gaze beyond the economy is doomed to be lost. Unregulated capitalism is a game of winners and losers.  Unfortunately, we will never be able to  fit in that straight jacket of simplistic logic and the unjust leverage called pure capitalism. America is busy trying these days to fit their spirituality into a stuff bag that cannot contain the power their subordinated God so many people desire to do their bidding. The state of economy is critical to survival for almost everyone but the most wealthy.  And yes, the people who survive on poverty’s edge along side the loaded logic of capitalism might vote for the economy promised however false those promises might be. But if we as a nation lose track of the morality that illustrates the guiding outlines of decision and behavior based on their spirituality, the game is done and so are we.  An economy bereft of morality cannot be resilient on the century time scale.  To raise children and launch generations as a society we definitely need that century of resilience. “We the People” do not fit into pure capitalism and rest assured it will always be We the People who will rise up when push comes to shove. The current state of the nation certainly looks like push has come to shove.

This writer is often teased for promoting something as improbable as a reform in decision making, and yet, collectively, when we see ourselves with the current leadership of the country it is obviously the national decision making process that has broken down in America albeit it has been in slow motion collapse for decades.  You would think this nation has become a nation without compassion or conscience yet nothing could be further from the truth.  Conscience causes pain when internal and social values are violated by ourselves and others.  The unique combination of greed, internet, media, AI, and dizzying change seem to have anesthetized our conscience as a nation.  But we can renew and reform

A Brief Suggestion for Good

Just as there is “good trouble” as the former Congressman John Lewis called it, there is also “good pain” except both trouble and pain turn to suffering when turned stagnant and unresolved.  America is suffering from unresolved conflict with core values and this Project is designed to focus on resolution rather than the infinite detail of mutual hate. No, it is not exclusively the economy.  Our troubles are those of a collective conscience intentionally numbed out make way for the heartless bulldozer called unregulated capitalism.  We are a good nation filled with many good people who have forgotten their good. We are afraid of the pain of remembering who we once were.  The Sense of Good may seem like an abstract mind meme, but it real life living one’s true dynamic sense of good is health, and health is remembering who we could be and then being that good in action.  I promised some brevity here so click below for more thoughts on this subject.  Democracy is the memory and the creation of good in the collective.  We need The Next Democracy.  That would be good.
