Upon hearing of his death, this writer and The Good Decision Project wish to express condolences and gratitude to Robert Mueller, his family, friends and community. But in addition to heart felt condolences, in the name of this nation, we wish to apologize to you, and all who loved and admired Robert Mueller, for the hurtful, cruel and thoughtless comments made by the President of the United States regarding your loved one. This writer is certain that a vast majority of this nation would never stoop so low as to issue a heartless comment such as has been issued by the President. To our shame, we either voted for him, or we failed to prevent him from taking down the highest office of this proud nation. Either way, we are deeply sorry and ashamed.
Robert Mueller was a disciplined, devoted public servant and we hope you can feel, despite this horrific incident, the admiration and gratitude we feel for his sacrifice and courage in his efforts for justice. Knowing only a few of the battles he fought in his career, we know the pressures his good work must have impacted you, his beloved community and so we are also grateful for all you who sacrificed for Mr. Mueller’s work as well.
Modest Proposal for Good
Shame is a teacher and we as a nation must suffer the shame we experience from the words of the broken man we have elected. We must do better. That would be good. To say more is pointless and would distract further from the grieving family’s due.
