Sometimes in this project I receive from readers language more elegant and helpful than my own. The note below came to me through a dear friend who owns and operates a book store in a Washington state. The writer of this short note opens the store for her on Wednesdays and left this message. For a Sunday morning posting it serves as a blessing. Read, enjoy and take it to heart as it is a healing message. Sunday is a day for jewels like this. I promised grounding language last posting and before I could say “Hey Presto” grounding language drops into the lap of this Project just like that. Have a grand and blessed Sunday.
‘We seem to be entering a strange crescendo of the news cycle, with fresh crises forming daily. I have one thing to say about that— “This, too, shall pass.” We can get caught up in it and worry ourselves to distraction, or we can take the long view and look at the arc of history. No given moment holds sway longer than a finite time. There will be many bad moments, but there will also be those times and memories that bring us joy. I stand with joy and curiosity about the world yet to be revealed. There is too much beauty to be appreciated and not enough time to squander on misery. Granted, we need to speak up when situations are intolerable, but then we need to return to a centered calm. That is the only way we can continue and be helpful. I remain a friend and companion to all I know and meet on this Journey, knowing that, one day, my time is done. The only question that stands will be “Did I give a good accounting of myself?” We will all ask that question in our time. Until then, carry on as best you can, with love and attention.’
