Good and Better Words than Mine: Poetry . . . Another Form of Resistance

A good poem is a mystery seed.  Read it and plant it in your heart.  You really can’t know what will grow.  The language of this age is worn and lacking power through continuous misuse: powerful words are disregarded and weak words invested with too much power.  Hence our culture stalls. Poetry is the incubator of the next vocabulary. The vocabulary that will carry us back home.

A Poetic Excerpt

Poet:  Andrew Gibson

Because your leaders

move their fingers

over the buttons of bombs

as if they are piano keys.

As if they could make a symphony

of playing chords around

your children’s necks. . .

(Excerpted from  the poem ALIENS EXPLAIN WHY THEY ARE VISITING EARTH by poet Andrea Gibson)

This Writer’s Sense of Words to Come

Modern day politicians push buttons fancying themselves warriors.  The nation’s real warriors fight the wars living in the flesh with blood and death, wishing, in the end, they could at least be the powerful politicians to end this evil symphony.  Our age’s tragedy is not complicated, only extremely sad realizing this carnage is not the only way.
