Good, and Words Better Than Mine from Ranier Maria Rilke

Sometimes when life gets just a notch too crazy it no longer feels as if it matters if you are a believer or not, religious or not, powerful or powerless, vulnerable or safe, right or left, extremist, radical or common sense, MAGA or progressive.  You just need  wisdom and support.  Woven in the foundations of this one precious life of yours is a heritage of wisdom: words for the atheist and the believer.  Wisdom speaks to a silent space beyond words and how you use the deeper instructions of wisdom for life  is up to you.

poem 59, Book I

Ranier Maria Rilke

God speaks to each of us as he makes us, then walks with us

silently out of the night. These are the words we dimly hear:

You, sent out beyond your recall, go to the limits of your longing.

Embody me. Flare up like a flame and make big shadows I can move in.

Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.

Just keep going. No feeling is final.

Don’t let yourself lose me.

Nearby is the country they call life.

You will know it by its seriousness.

Give me your hand.

Some Encouragement from the Project

Stop worrying too much about the presence or absence of God in a given movement of time and listen very, very, closely to the words given you and you use for your life story.  In that life story you will find your spiritual story.  The only certainty this writer has is that reality is never ever what you thought it was in the hopeless moments.  Evil can flair impressively but rarely prevails for the individual. The “sense of good” for the individual does not run on batteries so nurture, grow, mature and use it relentlessly.  That would be good.
