We humans, as biological events, are composed mostly of water which is critical to remember since any abuse of the earth’s ecology of water cycles naturally becomes a form of self abuse. We are sadly destroying the critical water cycles of this planet. Those working water processes assure a future for all of us and their destruction assure with equal certainty destruction for humanity. The current government in the United States is sitting in a burning room and hoping the air conditioning can put out the fire when what is needed is a scaled up fire hose. Unfortunately the deteriorating water cycle, like authentic science, is yet another bearer of bad news and our government has fallen into the habit of shooting the bearers of hard, inconvenient news.
The earth’s water cycle is telling a frightening tale and the vocabulary of the imminent disaster is expressed in drying up lakes, empty river beds, tragic shattering floods, tornadoes hiding in deluge rains, crumbling glaciers, rising oceans and lethal river cycles. The jig is up. The message is uncompromisingly simple. We must absolutely, immediately adapt from fossil fuels and protect the earth’s systems and cycles of health for our own well being, We have to realize that earth is neither a Democrat or Republican. Mother Earth is not intimidated by the current set of bullies fictionalizing a grifter’s future by milking last gasp profits from our fossil fuel illness. We either respond to our planets clear warning or perish while the planet sets a few million years in the geologic ICU of the blue globe. For the religious reading this, God has more than time and has offered a veritable horde of warnings to this foolish generation. The challenge of water on planet earth is not subject to the vote. We will not be offered the opportunity to vote against our own earned demise.
Urgent Suggestion for Good
If we are tired of all these warnings about a climate apocalypse, I guess all this writer can say is “too bad”. We are on for the ride. If you think going to church and hoping that based on one day a week you can “ask and receive” climate relief” consider also there is sufficient liturgical literature that instructs the wise caretaker to match wise action with the desperate asking. We must act. The most powerful nation on the planet and most powerful people in those nations are nothing but subordinate caretakers when it comes to planet earth. This project suggests, we place the infants and children born to us as the first priority for safety and care, and the planet they must learn to live with and on as the equally important second priority. Ignore these priorities and there is no more to be said. The one thing politics can do is for aware adults to demand through the vote to be subordinates to the needs of the earth and future generations. That would be not only good, but now we also understand our survival is at stake.
