Good and the Greatness of Commonality: Words Better than Mine. Poet: Hafiz

The Foundations for Greatness.    Hafiz

“Greatness

Is always built upon this foundation.

The ability

To appear, speak, and act

As the most

Common

Man”.

Sunday Reflections from The Good Decision

Hafiz and wisdom such as his reveals the nude emperor in all of us.  Commonality is not less than great, yet somehow who among us wants to have engraved on our tombstones: “Here Lies a Very Common Person.” Democracy was conceived and designed for the common person, for the elevation of all common humanity, living through the common crisis that accompany lives of dignity and courage.  How could we get it so wrong?  I don’t know, but as long as we are alive we can correct. That would be good.

Having spent my career in human services and organization/systems change, I have come to recognize both the futility of pure anger and the need for a grounded, ethical, moral base for making personal and public decisions that are based on a mature sense of “good”. This website and the content of this project (The Good Decision) are a public service for all who seek more coherent personal lives and a future for future generations in a democracy.
