Our President has done a fair job of presenting himself as a Demigod or a Demon and it doesn’t  seem to matter to him how you took it.  With this week the ruse is over, and he is just another human being exposed and revealed over the heat of indulging too much power ineffectively.  We, the  public, and particularly the resisters and the worshipers, may have used him to fill a vacuum within ourselves and for that indulgence many of us will pay the price of ambiguous loss.  If you loved and worshipped him, he has let you down and you feel an emptiness and loss, for he served as Demigod to you until you realized his fallible humanity.  If you hated him, he has also let you down, because even after his defeat this week you might be beginning to realize he has been living rent free occupying large room in your head and heart for some years now as a demon. You don’t have to be demon to be a bad President.  Stripped of power, bad politicians become what they are; distracted, isolated, lost, bitter and so fallibly human.

When politics work as politics should, you might find yourself in the near future getting bored, for many aspects of government are more tedious hard work than apocalyptic.  A true public servant considers the mundane 10,000 decision points prior to  executing a single piece of legislation.  Recovering our country will take 10,000 times 10,000 decision points to reset the course of the United States.  Meanwhile, where is the entertainment of the false demigod or demon to spin the glitter ball of distraction?  If we want to reset the course of this country it is time to turn down the heat and reengage the abandoned driving wheel of democracy which will be hard, heavy work. If you have studied history you know this will not be fun.

Modest Proposal for Good

Never forget we are all fallible, need driven, human beings.  This writer thinks we must not revert to punishment and retribution as the wave of blue washes back from the shore of victory revealing the damage of the past. The faux demigods absolutely must to have their power thoroughly checked, but the next 24 months cannot be a revenge fest shoring up the vacant room in head and heart that was previously filled by the hate filled diatribes of the past 24 months. The vacuum of vacancy left by any kind of loss is always an urgent, painful call to be filled again.  Tolerance, justice, connection, caring and authentic democracy need to refill the center, both in government and self, left in the wake of hatred or badly invested love.  We won back Congress but have yet to win back Justice. Avoid memes and insults like the poison they are.  America doesn’t need retribution’s distraction as much as an Urgent Care Administration to heal the wounds of this administration.  We the People, are all the people and we all matter, all the time. That was and can be again in the United States and that would be good.
