Good and Better Words than Mine

I think I can give you, the reader, and me, a writer a break now and then by simply sharing powerful messages from better minds.  In this case Poet Laureate Joy Harjo writes about monsters and the forms they take even in this age of ‘rationality’. When I skim the media I feel like I should wear a coat of armor and have the lance in hand for there are monsters afoot.  Monsters eat the future for lunch. The Poet’s advice is wise.

Do not feed the monsters

Some are wondering thought forms, looking for a place

to set up house.

Some are sent to you deliberately.  They come from

arrows of gossip, jealousy or envy–and inadvertently

   from thoughtlessness.

They feed on your attention, and feast on your fear.

Joy Harjo

Poet Laureate of the United States

From her book of Poems entitled: Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings

Now that was good!
