Throwing the dice may work in a Casino once in a while, but it is not a good idea in the world of geopolitics. The average Iranian has certainly been a loser in this war when you consider the dice throw was counting on a regime change and only accomplished a regime rejuvenation. The average American has spent a lot of income on the gas required to keep this country moving while this big gamble plays out and is now looking at either more taxes or debt to restore our military stockpiles for even simple defense purposes much less empire building. The American public is in no position to claim any victory. The world citizen living in less padded countries than the USA can expect a harder life for decades while infrastructure is reconnected. The price of gas here might initially come down but that will be political rather than a response to the larger economy, and economies eat politicians for breakfast. We, the people, on the other hand live on the leftovers and in the longer term that doesn’t look good. So if victory is declared, enjoy the celebration before consequence hands the bill over.
Modest Proposal for Good
As grandmothers say, “what is done is done”. We the people need to stop living from Presidency to Presidency. This is our fault. Any successful farmer knows you can’t rebuild a failed farm in four years. The farmer who purchased the farm must live with the consequences of the previous farmer for at least two or three years and can only expect break even or profit down the road from there. The current administration is plowing under the progress of the last president. We have a political cycle of thinking the next president can fix the past president’s work. Any candidate who tells you that is either a fool or a liar and we know now how well that works for us. Look for someone who tells the hard truth. After this administration “all truth will be hard”. We are looking at minimally at an eight year recovery and around 16 year (four presidential terms ) of consistent hard honest work before we can expect world standing again as a nation. So may the good people alive today campaign for the future of children and grand children. May the wise voter sacrifice the huckster’s allure of sweetened pablum and impossible rainbows. We are facing the farmer’s hard work and dedication to the nature’s uncompromising process. Close the casino. That would be good.
