Good, Denaturalization and The Devil’s Nail Clipper

Denaturalization is a euphemism for destroying the nature of something severing its relationship to its nature.  To be naturalized in the national sense is to become a fully adopted as a family member or national citizen.  Our current administration has decided to use the extensive powers of the justice system to commit an act of betrayal to America in an effort to denaturalized an American Citizen who is their Congressional critic.

The clipping of nails on a cat or on ourselves is mostly an act of hygiene and self care. Unfortunately reasonable criticism can feel like a cat crawling up your legs with nails out.  Politics is a profession for the mature who can deal with the claws and nails of criticism realizing criticism is not fatal or even wrong.  Criticism calls for a change of opinion or behavior.  For this administration to invade Representative IIhan Omar’s home in an effort to denaturalize the Congress woman’s citizenship and prepare for deportation is a horrific betrayal of the American ethos. Denaturalization of political opposition is clearly an act of desperation and a dangerous precedent in the history of American betrayals and elections.  Denaturalization in service to political desperation or ambition could be called the Devil’s Nail Clippers. No American citizen should be denaturalized, declawed or clipped.  If that citizen becomes a problem to the government, once we adopt that person through naturalization they are our problem. We have an entire body of national law to deal with those issues and political whim is not one of them.

Modest Proposal for Good

This is a problem for the Supreme Court and by the Supreme Court. The ambiguous empowerment of the President’s authority and cape of protection against those acts in office that can be construed as illegal is being mightily abused. The question is: is the Executive power of the President a license to skirt or even violate the US Constitution?  At this stage in our history as a nation, Congress has been paralyzed and the Justice Department  along with the Department of Defense are being dictated  by rules acknowledged to be the morality of one man; the President. We must insist the court protect the Constitution and the office of Presidency.  The morality of all citizens in this democracy is subject to the Constitution. This is not a perfect solution to the issues of freedom, but it is our solution.  Unplug the Devil’s Nail Clipper and make the Executive comply with his job description.  That may be something only the Courts can do and that would be good.
